Euro Section Travelogue 4 : Cubic houses Rotterdam

Once we arrived in Rotterdam, we headed for the cube houses (from the Dutch: kubuswoningen) they were built in the 1970s in Rotterdam and Helmond (North Brabant) and designed by the architect Piet Blom (nl) (1999). These are several houses in the form of cubes in heights on large hexagonal « posts ». The whole represents a village in a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses represent a forest. We visited one of them. The interior surprises a lot because it is quite spacious and there are three different levels with a central staircase. I don’t think I would like to live there, not because of a problem with spaces inside but because the “village” is above a major road and the cost of buying or renting one of the houses is very high but this experience is still rewarding.
